As of now, the government of Madhya Pradesh has directed schools to continue offline classes and physical learning with 50% capacity. A decision on the closure of schools will be taken in a review meeting soon.

While states across the nation are conducting meetings to shut schools amid the increasing numbers of novel coronavirus cases, Madhya Pradesh has decided not to close schools. For now, the Madhya Pradesh Government has ruled out the closure of schools in the state even as COVID-19 cases continue to rise. MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his recent statement said that Madhya Pradesh Schools would not be closed at present. However, as a precautionary against the COVID-19 surge, he has directed all schools to operate at 50% capacity for all classes until further notice

As of now, offline classes and physical learning will continue in MP schools for students of all classes. However, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also informed that a review meeting will be conducted in order to take a decision regarding the closure of schools in the state. In a statement, MP CM said, "Daily Covid cases are increasing fast in Madhya Pradesh. However, we are monitoring the situation carefully and further decisions on putting more restrictions will be taken according to the situation in the coming days.”

The minister further added, “Indore and other districts are obviously a big concern for us, but the overall COVID situation in the state is under control. Schools with 50 per cent seating capacity will be allowed to continue till the next decision is taken after reviewing the situation.”

However, after witnessing a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases, several states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan and more have announced the closure of schools, colleges and other educational institutions.
