Nagaland holds huge potential for AYUSH: Sarbananda Sonowal
The Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal has said that Nagaland holds huge potential to add to the growth journey of Ayush.
After the Covid 19 pandemic, there is a worldwide acceptance for AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) related treatment and the Government of India is also working to grow it further through its various initiatives. The Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal has said that Nagaland holds huge potential to add to the AYUSH growth journey.
His tweet reads, "Under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, Ayush is growing like never before. With its huge resources and ancient heritage preserved by traditional healers, Nagaland holds huge potential to add to the growth journey of Ayush."
"GoI and @moayush are taking all measures to develop the Ayush sector in Nagaland. To better serve the people, I am glad to announce that we will soon set up one Ayurvedic College, three 10 Bed Hospitals and one 30 Bed Hospital at a cost of more than ₹ 100 crore," he said in another tweet.
Yesterday, he also held a review meeting with Ayush and Health officials in Aizawl where he reviewed various development works going on in the sectors and Covid management in Mizoram.
Ministry of Ayush launches drug trial for Covishield vaccine and Ashwagandha
The Ayush Ministry and CCRAS (the sponsor) have launched a drug trial of Ashwagandha along with the Covishield vaccine. The ministry has announced the publication of the study protocol on Covisheild plus Ashwagandha in the research journal: Frontiers in Medicine.
It reads,"A large number of Indian people have been consuming various traditional medicines in the hope of better protection against COVID-19 infection. Several studies have reported immunological benefits of Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) and its potential as a vaccine adjuvant. We propose to study the safety, immunogenicity and clinical protection offered by a 6-month regimen of Ashwagandha in participants who volunteer to be vaccinated against COVID-19 (COVISHIELDTM) in the ongoing national program of vaccination."
