While the health ministry decided to conduct NEET 2021 twice this year, an official announcement regarding the NEET 2021 dates is yet to be made!

NEET 2021 Dates: The National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) will be conducted twice starting this year as the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given a green signal for the same. Considering the decision,  NEET 2021 will be organised on the lines of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main). However, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is yet to release NEET 2021 dates. NEET is the entrance examination that is conducted for taking admission to medical, dental and several other related institutions. According to the official, in a recent meeting conducted with the education ministry and NTA, Health Ministry discussed issues related to online and offline modes of examination and multiple sessions. β€œWhile we felt that a large number of NEET aspirants still may not be ready for appearing in the examination in online mode, there is now a consensus on conducting the test twice this year,” said a senior official in the medical education department of the Health Ministry.

Reports suggest that conducting NEET 2021 in a twice a year format will allow students to be ranked on the basis of the best of the two scores if they take the test twice. Since last year, the same format is being followed for JEE(Main).

According to NTA, conducting NEET 2021 will reduce the stress on the students and allow them to improve their scores. Last week, during an interview, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank said that officials from his and the health ministry interacted recently and there is a possibility that the health ministry will consider conducting NEET 2021 twice and give students an additional attempt.

Usually, NEET is conducted in the first week of May every year. However, due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, the medical entrance exam got pushed to September last year.
