Kerala police have registered a case where a father of a NEET 2022 female aspirant has alleged that his daughter and others were ordered to remove innerwear before entering the exam hall on July 17.

NEET 2022 was conducted on July 17, 2022, across the country and at many centres outside India as well. In Kerala, a police complaint has been registered where a father of a girl candidate has alleged that his daughter and other female aspirants at the examination centre were asked to remove their innerwear before entering the examination hall. 

The father said that many students who attended NEET 2022 at Mar Thoma Institute of Information and Technology at Ayur in Kollam were forced to remove their innerwear although this is not a requirement under norms mandated by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts NEET.

NTA had asked for immediate comments from the centreโ€™s superintendent, its independent observer and the city coordinator (NEET) of the Kollam district. After receiving their comments, NTA said, โ€œAll three of them, among other things, have stated that they did not find any such incident happening in the centre. The candidate did take the examination. There was no representation/ complaint to anyone during or immediately after the examination. Nor has NTA received any email/ complaint in this regard.โ€

โ€œThe dress code provides for ensuring the sanctity and fairness of conducting the examination while observing sensitivity towards the gender/ religious/ cultural/ regional sensitivities involved in frisking/ biometric of candidates.โ€ the statement added.

NTA issued dress code and barred items list for appearing in NEET 2022

NTA had released the list of barred items and also a dress code for appearing in the examination which clearly mentioned that suspicious candidates may be asked to remove shoes only at the time of frisking/biometric.

Dr. Rohan Krishnan, FAIMA national president tweeted, "When we raised the issue that minimum standards are not maintained at Examination centre in NEET PG exam @PMOIndia u didnโ€™t intervene. Now , news coming that a NEET Ug aspirant were told to remove undergarments & molested. My simple question when is govt going to think of youth."
