Despite the Tamil Nadu government's allegations and anti-NEET Bill against the medical entrance examination NEET, the number of applicants from the state has increased by 20%.

While Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin led state government continue to demand exemption from NEET, the number of applicants from the state has increased significantly over the few years. 

For NEET 2022, the number of applicants from Tamil Nadu is 1,42,286, which is 20% up over the numbers in 2021. Despite the government's opposition to the examination, the state has stood in the third position in the number of applicants in India with Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh ranking first and second, respectively.

Stalin urges Governor to give assent to 21 bills passed by the state Assembly

The Chief Minister has urged TN Governor R N Ravi to give early assent to the 21 bills passed by the state Assembly. He also thanked him for forwarding the anti-NEET Bill for Presidential assent.

With the admission season in medical colleges just around the corner, he has asked the Governor to expedite the process to ensure a safe passage for the Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical University Bill. The Bill to establish Siddha Medical University aims at making Chief Minister the Chancellor of the varsity.

He also demanded that 21 pending bills including Tamil Nadu Apartment Ownership Bill, TN Universities Bill,Tamil Nadu Cooperative Societies (amendment) bill, and others to be expeditiously approved and thereby uphold the spirit of the Constitution and the will of the people of the state
