NEET 2022 Tie Breaking Policy Revised by NTA; Know Factors Here
NTA has revised the tie-breaking policy for NEET 2022. Along with the existing three factors, there has been an addition of six other factors to determine the higher rank among two or more candidates. Know the details here.
NEET 2022 Tie Breaking Policy
The NEET 2022 tie-breaking policy has undergone changes this year. As compared to last year, this year, the tie-breaking policy for NEET will include not only scores but the age factor as well. Moreover, last year, the NEET tie-breaking policy included scores in Biology and Chemistry. This year, all three subjects, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics scores will be considered for the final scoring system. Let us take a look at the NEET 2022 tie-breaking policy in detail.
NEET 2022 Tie Breaking Policy
In case of two or more candidates obtain equal marks/percentile scores in the NEET 2022, the inter-se-merit will be determined as follows:
a. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the test, followed by,
b. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the test, followed by,
c. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Physics in the test, followed by,
d. Candidate with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the test,
e. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the test, followed by
f. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the test, followed by
g. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the test, followed by
h. Candidate older in age, followed by
i. Application number in ascending order
NEET Tie Breaking Policy for Last Year
Last year, the NEET tie-breaking policy comprised of three factors only, which are as follows:
a. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by,
b. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the Test, followed by,
c. Candidate with less proportion of number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test.
NEET 2022 Changes Introduced
Apart from the NEET 2022 tie-breaking formula, there have been other changes introduced in this year’s exam, which are as follows:

The duration of NEET has been increased by 20 minutes. Instead of three hours, the exam will now be conducted for three hours and 20 minutes.

The application fee across candidate categories has been increased by INR 100.

The registration process will not be conducted over two phases.

The number of exam cities has increased to 543 in India and 14 abroad.
The NEET 2022 application process is underway and the last date to apply is May 6. The exam will be conducted on July 17 in a paper-pencil based mode (PBT). Apart from the duration, there has not been any change in the NEET exam pattern and syllabus.
