On July 12, the medical aspirants approached the Education Ministry with a memorandum to postpone NEET-UG 2022.

NEET-UG 2022 is scheduled to be held on July 17

With just a few days left for the NEET-UG exam, medical aspirants have approached Delhi high court seeking exam postponement. The NEET-UG aspirants are demanding the exam be postponed by 40-60 days and also an extra attempt.

Students from various states have filed a petition in the Delhi High Court for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Under Graduate exam 2022 (NEET-UG) deferment and also seeking an extra attempt. The NEET-UG 2022 is scheduled to be conducted on July 17.

The medical aspirants have been demanding NEET-UG postponement by at least 40 to 60 days, thus allowing them extra time for preparation. Students have also sent a plea to education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and have been running a campaign on social media platforms seeking exam postponement as they argue that the counselling process of NEET-UG 2021 concluded only in March this year, leaving them with just three months window to revise the entire syllabus.

Sheelu Yadav, a NEET-UG aspirant appealing exam postponement said: β€œWe want only 30-40 days. It's not big-time which they can't give us. Plz, listen to us don't ignore us like we are the future and you destroy our future. Why. what we have done to you. plzz postponed neet ug lakhs of student want this everyone wants postponed neet.”

On July 12, the medical aspirants approached the Education Ministry with a memorandum to postpone NEET-UG 2022. In the 19-page memorandum to the Ministry, the NEET aspirants have listed the reasons and hurdles they are facing at the moment. The memorandum states that the preparation time has been less than 100 days since the release of the official NEET UG 2022 notification back on April 6, 2022. They also claimed that the notification was contrary to the usual pattern where aspirants are notified at least five months in advance from the date of the exam.

On the other hand, the NTA has been saying that there will be no change in schedule for any of the competitive exams scheduled between July and August 2022. NTA will be conducting Common University Entrance Test-UG (CUET-UG), NEET-UG and Joint Entrance Examination-main (JEE-main) during this period.
The CUET-UG will be conducted between July 15 and August 10. The NEET-UG is scheduled for July 17 and JEE (Main) from July 21 to July 30. While over 9.5 lakh aspirants have registered for the CUET, 18.72 lakh candidates have registered for the NEET-UG 2022.

Students also claim that those candidates planning to apply to other undergraduate courses apart from medical courses under NEET may not get enough time to focus on CUET and JEE.
