NEET 2021 Counselling - Notice Regarding Resignation of Round 1 Seats

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the instructions for candidates who have been allotted seats in Round 1 of NEET 2021 counselling regarding the resignation of seats. The reporting process will end on February 9 and candidates can resign the seat till February 15, till 4 pm. After this date, the remaining seats will be considered for Round 2 of NEET UG 2021 counselling.

Candidates must ensure that the Resignation Letter is generated online through the MCC portal by the allotted college, without which the resignation will be considered null and void. “In such a case, candidate will be deemed to occupy the seat still, and rules of Round-2 will apply. Any letter other than Resignation Letter generated through online portal will not be considered as ‘Resignation Letter’,” MCC has stated.

Those who have chosen for upgradation in Round 2 but if the seat is not upgraded after the seat allotment of Round 2, they will not be able to resign, and will have to retain the seat. “In such a case rules of Round-2 will apply since the candidate has exercised choices and participated in Round-2. There is no option of resignation if candidate is not upgraded in Round-2,” MCC clarifies.

Candidates who have joined in Round 1 but would neither participate in Round 2 nor resign the seat of Round 1 will be considered part of Round 2 after the stipulated time. Hence, candidates who desire to resign their seat of Round 1 should do so before the commencement of Round 2.

As per the revised NEET 2021 counselling dates, the Round 2 registration process will be conducted from February 16 to February 21. The Choice Filling process for Round 2 will commence from February 17 onwards. There will be four rounds of counselling for NEET 2021 conducted by MCC.
