Candidates now will be allocated next preference campuses. The allotment of seats will be done as per the NIFT 2022 merit ranks.
The National Institute of Technology (NIFT) has notified that it is withdrawing M.F.Tech seats allotted at NIFT Chennai and NIFT Gandhinagar campuses. Candidates who have opted for the two campuses will now be allocated their next preference as per their merit ranks.
The National Institute of Fashion Technology has stated that the withdrawal of seats at the two campuses has been done due to administrative reasons.
The counseling process for NIFT 2022 is being conducted in online mode as a joint seat allocation process.
NIFT 2022 seat allotment process
The allotment of seats is done by considering the following factors:
- The NIFT 2022 merit rank of the candidate
- The choices (academic program + NIFT campuses) opted and their order of preference
Candidates who have been allotted seats will have to pay the seat acceptance fee online and confirm their seats.
Seat Allotment for Regular Programs
The seat allotment for regular programs will be conducted separately for the PwD and non-PwD categories. The allotment for the PwD category will have only one seat allotment round. However, the seat allotment for the non-PwD category will be conducted in five rounds.
The NIFTs currently have a seat intake of 5,023 seats. Of these, there are 4,1888 All-India seats, 377 state domicile seats, and 458 NRI seats.
The Master's courses (M.Des, M.F.Tech, MFM) have a combined intake of 966 seats.
