NLUO student alleges sexual harassment by NLSIU student

A student of National Law University, Odisha (NLU Odisha) has said that she was sexually, physically and mentally harassed by a fourth-year law student at National Law School of India University (NLSIU).

The victim is a third-year student of NLU Odisha. Her tweet reads, "There's a limit to everything and enough is enough. Aman Garg, a IVth year student at NLSIU has been abusing me for months- physically, sexually, and mentally to the point where i had to register a criminal complaint against him and his family members."

"His family members flew down to bangalore and persuaded me to take my complaint back which i reluctantly agreed to subject to certain conditions one of them was no further harassment of any form. Today, he admittedly cancelled my ticket from my college to kolkata from my account," she further said.

"In the past two months his family members have tried to justify his abusive actions. He apologized to the investigating officer of the case and promised not to harass me in the future. Despite of this, he's been mentally harassing me now," she added.

NLUO student's allegations are serious in nature

As per the victim in this case the NLSIU student is even threatening her by saying that he is from a powerful family and if the victim raises her voice she will face the consequences.

Her other tweet reads, "Now, his family members have been contacting my parents and asking them to make me delete these tweets. When does it stop? Why do we support such enabling behaviour? Why can't family members help their kin to get better instead of further invalidating a survivor's experiences?"

"Moreover, I had approached two students at NLS and when those students sent a public post on my behalf highlighting Aman's actions, the University initiated disciplinary proceedings against them at the behest of Aman. This was done to deter me from going ahead with my complaint," she added.
