NMC has released the guidelines for medical colleges in India seeking Regional Centre Recognition.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited medical colleges applications from across India seeking recognition as Regional Centre by its UGMEB (Undergraduate Medical Education Board) and also informed about the guidelines for getting this recognition through an official notification.

The last date to send their application form to UGMEB, NMC is November 30.

The NMC notification reads, "Applications are invited from medical colleges for seeking recognition as Regional Centre recognized by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB), National Medical Commission. Applications will be received on or before 30th November 2021, by 17.00 hours."

NMC guidelines for Regional Centre Recognition by UGMEB, NMC

The medical college must have a minimum of 10 years standing with UG and PG courses teaching. It should have a Functional Medical Education Unit of a minimum of 10 years standing with documentary proofs of having conducted revised AETCOM & CISP training and Basic Course Workshop for its faculty.

The college must have functional Simulation and Communication Skill Labs, Clinical, and Functional Skill Labs. Also, publications in Indexed Journals and Educational Research Scholarships will be considered while giving recognition as a Regional Center for MET. Faculty with PhD or MPhil in medical education will be given weightage. Reports of various training must be submitted.

Equipment required at the NMC Nodal centres/Regional Centres in MET are:

Two multimedia PCs with high-speed broadband 4G and colour monitors desktops/laptop with LCD projector in a MEU room, model-based or any other learning management system for faculty training, high-speed internet-enabled linking of the live session of NMC with 2 high-resolution camera, and high-speed internet-enabled monitoring system for online observation of MEU training program under RC/NC, a system for conducting live webinar, recording & storing of MEU workshop in online LMS and soundproof audio-video recording system.

Equipment required at NMC Regional Centres in MET

Two multimedia PCs, high-speed internet, colour monitors with LCD projector in a MEU room, audio-video capture system, multimedia projector, screen for projection, laptop, scanner + copier + printer, magnetic Board / flip boards, overhead projector, laser printer with scanner, PA system with cordless mikes (3) and Collar mikes (3).
