Now, apply in Odisha engineering colleges till December 30

Earlier, the deadline for admission to engineering colleges in Odisha was December 15, 2021. 

The last date for admission to first-year engineering courses in Odisha has been extended to December 31 for 2021-2022 academic session. Earlier, the admission deadline was till December 15, 2021. 

According to reports, Odisha Private Engineering College (OPEC) Association had filed a petition before the High Court of Odisha and then it moved the Supreme Court of India urging for an extension of the deadline to engineering courses admissions. 

OPEC in its petition reportedly stated that the deadline for admission to engineering colleges in the state last year was December 31. However this year’s deadline was till December 15. It was stated in the application that a large number of seats were lying vacant in private engineering colleges in Odisha in view of several students not attending the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

After hearing the plea, the Supreme Court agreed to extend the deadline for admission to engineering colleges till December 31. 

“The last date of admission to engineering colleges has been extended till December 31 for the current academic year. Students seeking admission in lateral entry or first year to the engineering courses can now approach colleges till December 31, 2021.” said the secretary of OPEC, Binod Das. 

There are 121 private polytechnic and 35 government polytechnic institutions and 80 engineering colleges in Odisha.
