Kothavalasa medical officer Dr P Seetha Mahalakshmi, who visited the school on Tuesday, informed the media that the students who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus are stable and doing well.
Omicron Scare: A teacher along with 19 students tested positive for COVID-19 at Zilla Parishad High School in Kothavalasa amid the rising cases of the novel coronavirus. Considering the emergency state of the situation, the district officials declared holidays for two days at the school as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 spread. School headmaster B Srinivasa Rao informed TOI that random testing was conducted in school on 60 students and out of the total, 19 of them tested positive for the deadly contagious virus.
Talking about the steps taken by the school after discovering the positive cases of the novel coronavirus in the school premises, ROI said, “We informed the district education officer (DEO) about the COVID-19 cases. At the instruction of our DEO, we declared holidays for two days. The students do not have any symptoms. They have been kept in home isolation.”
According to the report, Kothavalasa medical officer Dr P Seetha Mahalakshmi, who visited the school on Tuesday, informed the media that the students who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus are stable and doing well. While interacting with other students, she created awareness on COVID-19's appropriate behaviour among them and also discussed the precautions to be taken to curb the COVID-19 spread.
“Maintaining physical distance, wearing a mask and frequent hand washing are crucial to prevent the spread of the disease,” said Dr Mahalakshmi. She also urged students to stay at home during these two days and maintain distance from their parents. Students were also asked to report in case they face any symptoms of COVID-19 among themselves.
