Patna HC clears decks for appointment of 57 polytechnic, engg college principals
The petition was filed by Shlok Kumar Chakravarty, who had challenged the advertisement for the appointments.
As per a report published in The Times of India, the Patna high court has dismissed a writ petition wherein the appointment process of 57 principals in polytechnic and engineering colleges of Bihar was stayed.
The Bench of Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh delivered the judgment. The petition was filed by Shlok Kumar Chakravarty, who had challenged the advertisement for the appointments.
On November 11, 2020, the high court had directed the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) not to proceed with the appointment process. Additional Advocate General (AAG) Anjani Kumar and government counsel Alok Rahi opposed the interim stay as well as the petitioner’s prayer by interpreting the rules and their provisions. It was submitted on behalf of the state government that of the total 57 government technical colleges, only two have full-fledged working principals.
Complete selection process of lab technicians in 2 weeks
While hearing a batch of Letters Patent Appeals of Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC), the division Bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice S Kumar directed the authorities concerned to complete the selection process for appointment of lab technicians within two weeks. The matter has been pending since 2015.
BSSC counsel Satyabir Bharti submitted that after the screening process, only 1,138 candidates were shortlisted for the posts. The names of the 260 lab technicians, who were rendering services to the government on contract and were allowed to participate in the said selection process, were not shortlisted.
