Prophet Row: Nagpur's Institute of Science website hacked by 'DragonForce Malaysia'

Institute of Science, Nagpur website hacked!

Prophet Row: The official website of the Institute of Science, Nagpur was hacked on June 12, 2022. Established in 1906, the Institute of Science, Nagpur is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University. According to the police, the hackers identified themselves as 'DragonForce Malaysia'. The hackers also left a message on the homepage that reads, "It is a special operation on the insult of our Prophet Mohammad", police said. The IT department is now doing the restoration work of the website.

An objectionable remark by BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and party leader Naveen Kumar Jindal sparked massive protests and chaos across the globe. Following the agitation and after receiving backlash from various countries, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) suspended the spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled party leader Naveen Kumar Jindal. The hacking of the website occurred amid protests taking place in various countries. Several countries, including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Jordan, Bahrain, Maldives, Malaysia, Oman, Iraq and Libya, have denounced their comments.

The message posted on the website's home page read: "It is a special operation on the insult of our Prophet Mohammad. We witnessed that you guys had abused Muslim people publicly..." An investigation against the incident has been launched by the Police.

"The home page of the website carried a message in which people were urged to unite and start a campaign against India. The website was hacked through a malware. The hackers identified themselves as 'DragonForce Malaysia'," police inspector (Cyber) Nitin Phatangare said. "A similar case was reported in Mumbai on Saturday. Since then, we were on alert," Phatangare added.
