Puducherry School Reopening: All schools and colleges in the Union Territory of Puducherry have received directions from the administration to resume physical classes from February 4. The decision has been taken witnessing a dip in the number of COVID-19 cases. The administration conducted a meeting to analyses the COVID-19 situation in the region on Monday. At the end of the conducted with officials of the Department of Education, Home and Education Minister of the Union Territory A Namassivayam announced that all classes would be held six days a week and the schools and colleges would have full-day sessions every day.
The government had closed institutions in the wake of the pandemic. Amid the suspension of offline classes, online classes were adopted to curb academic loss. Now that the infections have come down, it was decided to resume physical classes, the Minister said.
States across the country are adopting measures to resume offline classes. Considering that students have faced academic loss in abundance in the last two years due to pandemic, various states have reopened schools in full swing from February 1. These states include Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Telangana, and others. Maharashtra’s Pune city has also commenced offline classes. However, other parts of the state reopened schools prior to this week after receiving reopening request from parents and students.
Meanwhile, the government of the National Capital is still mulling to reopen schools. Earlier, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia received a petition signed by more than 1600 parents requesting the reopening of schools in the state. However, the state has not announced reopening yet.
