Punjab School Timing Change: Amid dropping temperatures, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a change in the school timing for a month. The decision has been taken because of the dense fog in the state and keeping in mind the health and life safety of school students, teachers and all other government-aided and private schools, the timings have changed.
“Due to the dense fog falling in the state, in view of the health and safety of school students-teachers, tomorrow from 21-12-2022 to 21-01-2023, the opening time of all government, aided, recognized and private schools will be at 10 am. is done..the leave will be as per the pre-fixed time.” tweeted Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
As the city is witnessing a fog wave, the visibility on the streets was reduced from 100 to 150 metres on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. The CM announced new timings to avoid any fog related incidents.
The timings have been changed for a month. Schools will start at 10 am from tomorrow and this will be followed till January 21, 2023. As per a report, Bathinda was the coldest place in Punjab which recorded 3.4 degrees Celsius and mercury dipped while in Chandigarh recorded 7.6 degrees Celsius. The two cities Punjab and Haryana are likely to witness cold wave to severe cold wave conditions and few parts would witness dense to very dense fog in the next 4-5 days.
Students, teachers and parents must note that schools in the state will begin from 10 am onwards tomorrow. The closing time has not been changed.
