Earlier, the state government had announced winter holidays in all schools from December 25 to January 1.

Punjab School Winter Vacation 2023: The government of Punjab has extended winter holidays for all classes in all government and private schools in the state until January 8, 2023. Earlier, the schools were supposed to reopen today, January 2.

The government announced its decision through its social media portal. A tweet shared by the government stated, “Punjab government has extended winter holidays in all the govt, private and aided schools till January 8, 2023. School Education Minister HarjotBains said that all schools in the state would not open on January 2nd as announced earlier. The schools would now open on January 9, 2023.”

Earlier, the state government had announced winter holidays in all schools from December 25 to January 1. Meanwhile, The Basic Education Department of Lucknow has revised school timings for students of Classes 1 to 8 in all schools. The decision has been taken amid severe cold weather. According to the revised timings, classes will begin from 10 am and end at 2 pm. The revised timings will remain in effect till January 10, 2023.

An official released by the office of basic education stated, “After the approval of the District Magistrate, in view of the extreme cold wave, the timings of all the aided, recognized, schools of all the boards from class 1 to 8 in Lucknow district from January 2, 2023, to January 10, 2023, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm are being changed in the interest of the student.”

The Haryana government has also declared winter holidays for all government and private schools in the state from January 1 to 15, 2023. However, in view of board exams 2023, Class 10 and 12 students will have to attend classes from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Moreover, all Delhi government schools will remain closed for two weeks starting from January 1 for winter holidays, the Directorate of Education announced. Remedial sessions will be conducted for senior classes.
