Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences notifies MBBS exam will start from Feb 22
Amid the ongoing demand of students to postpone the examination, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has confirmed that the MBBS examination will start on February 22 as it was scheduled.
The MBBS students of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) were urging the university to postpone the MBBS examination which is scheduled to commence from February 22 as the academic session was on hold due to pandemic restrictions including lockdown and there was less time to cover the syllabus.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university had assured the students that the university will conduct a meeting to discuss these issues and announce a final decision soon. Now, the university has confirmed that the MBBS exams are fixed with the same tentative days as before.
On Tuesday, Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar had sent a letter to the university's VC asking him to reconsider his decision and postpone the examination.
Dr Sudhakar tweet says, "Considering the plight of MBBS students, I have written to the Vice Chancellor of RGUHS to consider postponement of final year MBBS exams scheduled from February 22 and reschedule the examination providing sufficient time for preparation."
The university responded the same day on the letter and issued a circular signed by Dr RamaKrishna Reddy, that there will be no change in the final MBBS examinations schedule and exams will begin as per the scheduled date, which is from February 22.
The RGUHS circular says, "This is to clarify that, considering NMC advisory, NEET PG Entrance tentative dates and RGUHS convocation schedule the MBBS course examinations dates are fixed after consultation of Principals of the affiliated all medical colleges principals and even other courses examinations of the university have also scheduled. Further to inform gap of 2 days between most papers have also been given the first time. The other states and most Deemed universities either completed already or scheduling exams during the same time. Hence there is NO CHANGE in the final MBBS examination schedule and also exams will start as per the scheduled date that is from February 22. Request you all to co-operate with the university."
