RGUHS to introduce peripheral scanning of answer scripts from forthcoming examination
The new process allows for answer scripts to be scanned and uploaded to the university server from the exam center immediately after the exam concludes.
The Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) has announced that it has decided to introduce peripheral scanning from the forthcoming examination this year to introduce major reforms to its evaluation system. With this new procedure, the RGUHS will be able to announce the results in various courses within days after practical exams. The current procedures lead to delay in the announcement of results by at least two or three months.
The new process allows for answer scripts to be scanned and uploaded to the university server from the exam center immediately after the exam concludes. The scanned answer sheets will be sent for digital evaluation. The entire scanning process will happen before a surveillance camera to remove possibilities of cheating.
“The whole activity will be monitored at the university,” said RGUHS vice-chancellor Dr S Sachidanand. Data available from the varsity suggests that scanning hundreds and thousands of answer scripts for each examination will take nearly a month. “We have tried this on a pilot basis for a few exams in 2020 and it was a big success. We have saved transportation time and the time taken to scan,” Sachidanand added.
With around 2.5 lakh answer scripts, nursing has been contributing the maximum, while the MBBS course has been sending one lakh answer scripts after the annual exams and BDS 50,000.
Although the new system may cost the varsity more than the old one, it has decided to go ahead since it would save time and prevent delays in announcing results.
