B.ED Holders Not Eligible for REET Level 1 Recruitment Exam?
In the hearing of a petition on B.Ed vs BTC, the Supreme Court agreed with the Rajasthan High Court. Now the B.Ed candidates will not be eligible to appear for the REET Level 1 recruitment exam for teachers.
Clearing the doubts about the eligibility criteria to appear for the REET Level 1 recruitment exam, the Supreme Court ordered in favour of the BTC degree holders. Now, the candidates who have the BEd degree will not be eligible to appear for the REET Level 1 recruitment exam. The story started with a petition in which the BTC degree holders were against the BEd degree holders appearing in the REET Primary Teachers recruitment exam. Earlier, the B.Ed candidates were allowed to appear for the primary teachers' recruitment exam and have to do a 6 months bridge course after the recruitment.
The verdict was given in favour of the BTC candidates on November 26, 2021, by the Rajasthan High Court. However, the verdict was again challenged in the Supreme Court, on which, the honorable Supreme Court agreed with the Rajasthan High Court.
What Happens Now?
The candidates holding the BEd degree will not be able to appear for the primary teacher recruitment exam in Rajasthan and the bridge course will be closed permanently. However, the candidates having the degree of BTC/D.El.Ed along with the BEd degree will remain eligible for the REET Level 1 recruitment exam.
