Q:   How many marks are allotted for a correct answer in the CSIR NET exam?

A:
The marks allotted for a correct answer in the CSIR NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test) exam vary depending on the part and type of question. Part A comprises 20 questions, and each question carries 1 mark. Therefore, the total marks allotted for Part A is 20. Part B and Part C comprise subject-specific questions, and each question carries 2 or 4 marks. Part B comprises 40 questions, and the total marks allotted for this section is 80. Part C comprises 60 questions, and the total marks allotted for this section is 120. It's important to note that there is negative marking of 25 per cent marks (33 per cent in Part C of Earth Sciences paper) for each incorrect answer in Part B and Part C. Therefore, it's essential to attempt only those questions for which the candidate is confident about the correct answer. Overall, the CSIR NET exam is designed to test the candidate's knowledge, understanding, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills in their respective subject, and the marks allotted for each question reflect the difficulty level of the question.

Q:   Does NTA also release the final CSIR NET answer key?

A:

The CSIR NET answer key is released in two phases - Provisional and Final. The CSIR NET provisional answer key 2024 was released along with the question paper and marked responses. After analysing the representations of the candidates, the NTA releases the CSIR NET final answer key. After considering the objections raised by the candidates against the provisional answer key, a panel of subject matter experts appointed by CSIR reviews the objections and prepares the final answer key. The final answer key is then released on the official website of CSIR NET. The final result of CSIR NET is based on the final answer key. Candidates can use the final answer key to check the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam and verify their scores.

Q:   Why is the CSIR NET answer key important?

A:
The CSIR NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test) answer key is an important document for candidates who have appeared for the exam. It contains the correct answers to all the questions asked in the exam and is released by the exam conducting authority within a few days to a week after the exam is conducted. The answer key is important for the following reasons: A) Estimate Score: Candidates can use the answer key to estimate their score in the exam. By comparing their answers with the correct answers given in the answer key, candidates can get an idea of their performance in the exam and the marks they are likely to score. B) Verify Answers: Candidates can use the answer key to verify their answers and identify any mistakes they may have made while attempting the exam. This will help them to identify their weak areas and work on them to improve their performance in future exams. C) Raise Objections: Candidates can also raise objections against any incorrect answer given in the answer key. The exam conducting authority will consider the objections raised by the candidates and make the necessary corrections in the answer key, if required. D) Result Preparation: The final result of CSIR NET is based on the final answer key. Therefore, candidates can use the answer key to get an idea of their performance in the exam and their chances of qualifying for the next stage of the selection process.
