Narendra Modi greets CRPF personnel on 82nd Raising Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on its 82nd raising day celebrations. The CRPF was established as Crown Representative’s Police on 27th July 1939. Later, after the enactment of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949, it became the Central Reserve Police Force.

CRPF was raised as a sequel to the political unrest and the agitations in the then princely States of India following the Madras Resolution of the All-India Congress Committee in 1936.

Shri Sadananda Gowda launches schemes for bulk drugs parks & medical devices parks

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri DV Sadananda Gowda on July 27, 2020 launched four schemes for the promotion of domestic manufacturing of bulk drugs and medical devices parks in the country. This is a step towards the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat in the pharma sector.

He stated that India is referred as the ‘the pharmacy of the world’ but still we depend on imports for Bulk Drugs (Key Starting Materials (KSMs)/ Drug Intermediates (DIs) and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)).

Narendra Modi inaugurated COVID testing facilities at Kolkata, Mumbai and Noida

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated high throughput COVID-19 testing facilities at Kolkata, Mumbai and Noida on July 27, 2020. These facilities are at the National Institutes of Indian Council of Medical Research, at Kolkata, Mumbai and Noida.

India is performing over five lakh COVID-19 tests daily and aiming to take the number of corona tests to one million in a day in the country. On the sidelines of the function, the Chief Minister stated the ‘Chase the virus’ initiative taken in Maharashtra. The labs are in the ICMR as below.

  • ICMR-National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research, Noida
  • ICMR-National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health, Mumbai
  • ICMR-National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases, Kolkata

Mausam App for India's Meteorological Department launched

The Ministry of Earth Sciences proudly launched the mobile App “Mausam” for India's Meteorological Department on July 27, 2020. Mausam app will be available at play store and apple store. It was the occasion of the 14th foundation day celebrations of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

In February 2006, the Government notified the Department as the Ministry of Ocean Development. The Government of India further reorganized the Ministry of Ocean Development and the new Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) came into being vide Presidential Notification dated July 12, 2006. The following departments were kept under its administrative control.

  • India Meteorological Department (IMD)
  • Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM)
  • National Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF)

India extends medical assistance of $1 million to North Korea

India had supplied the tuberculosis medicine worth one million dollars to North Korea on July 27, 2020 in response to the request received from the World Health Organisation (WHO). The Indian embassy in Pyongyang reported. The medical assistance is under the aegis of an ongoing WHO anti-tuberculosis programme in DPRK, it said.

The consignment of medicines was handed over to DPRK authorities by Indian Ambassador to DPRK Atul Malhari Gotsurve in the presence of a WHO representative.

Indian Railways handed over ten Broad Gauge Locomotives to Bangladesh

Indian Railways on July 27, 2020 handed over ten broad gauge locomotives to Bangladesh. The locomotives were virtually flagged off by Minister of External Affairs Dr S. Jaishankar and Minister of Railway Piyush Goyal. From the Bangladesh end, Minister of Railway, Md. Nurul Islam Sujan and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abul Kalam Abdul Momen received the locomotives on behalf of the Government of Bangladesh.

It was an important commitment made during the India visit of Honourable Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina in October 2019.

Haryana to be the host of Khelo India Youth Games 2021

The Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar announced on July 25, about that the fourth edition of Khelo India Youth Games will be hosted by Haryana in 2021.

In the video conference, the union minister informed that Khelo India Youth Games will be organised at Panchkula in Haryana.

FATF review of Indian Economy pushed to 2021

Coronavirus pandemic has pushed the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) evaluation of India’s anti-money laundering regime and legal measures framed to check financial crimes, scheduled for this year, to next year.
In response to mounting concern over money laundering, the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF) was established by the G-7 Summit that was held in Paris in 1989.

The FATF is a global money laundering and terrorist financing watchdog that sets international standards to prevent illegal activities in the economic and financial channels of a country and its inter-connected linkages across the world.

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan tested Corona Positive

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan tested corona positive on July 25. He also urged the near and dear ones to get tested. CM Chouhan said, “Get yourself tested as soon as you exhibit the symptoms, and start treatment immediately once you test positive. With this, you will surely win the battle against corona."
