22 Arrests Made and 19 FIRs Filed as Authorities Crack Down on Exam Malpractice Across 67 Districts

The Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Examination 2024 will conclude today, 31st August, marking the end of a rigorous examination process that began on 23rd August.

The examination, being conducted across 1,174 centers in 67 districts, witnessed participation from lakhs of candidates vying for 60,244 constable posts. This recruitment drive attracted candidates not only from Uttar Pradesh but also from various states across the country, reflecting the nationwide appeal of the UP Police force.

The examination was held in multiple shifts over four key dates—23rd, 24th, 25th, and 30th August—with each shift accommodating lakhs of aspirants. Officials from the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPPRB) reported that more than 19 lakh candidates appeared for the exam over the last two days alone, underscoring the immense competition for the limited number of positions.

To ensure the integrity of the exam, especially in light of past allegations of paper leaks, the authorities implemented strict security measures. On the penultimate day, 30th August, the exam was held in two shifts, with more than 4 lakh candidates participating. Police officials conducted thorough checks at all examination centers, with candidates being rigorously screened before entry. Those who had not provided their Aadhaar numbers during registration were required to arrive an hour earlier for additional verification.

Despite these efforts, the examination was not without incidents. On the fourth day, 6,91,936 candidates appeared, and during security checks, 94 suspects were identified. The police registered 19 FIRs related to attempts to hack the examination system and arrested 22 individuals, including four in Saharanpur. The proactive measures taken by the police were aimed at preventing any malpractice and ensuring a fair examination process.

Rajiv Krishna, Chairman of the UPPPRB, emphasized the board’s commitment to maintaining the examination's integrity and assured that the authorities will take all necessary steps to protect the interests of genuine candidates.

The results of the UP Police Constable Recruitment Examination are anticipated to be released between November and December, with the answer key expected to be published before the results. Successful candidates will subsequently undergo the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET), followed by document verification and medical examinations. The final merit list will determine the appointment of constables, bringing the extensive recruitment process to a close.
