The sectional timings of IBPS PO exam are given below.

IBPS calculates the IBPS PO marks of the candidates through a method called normalisation that helps candidates to get a rounded-up figure. Since the exam is conducted in multiple shifts and days the difficulty level of the question paper varies from one shift to another. Normalisation of scores is done to balance and assist in the fair evaluation. This method is followed both for prelims and Mains exams. There is IBPS PO negative marking in the objective exam. For each wrong answer, one-fourth or 0.25 marks assigned to that question are deducted as IBPS PO negative marking to arrive at the corrected score. There is no IBPS PO negative marking for unattempted questions.

The mains exam consists of both objective and descriptive type tests. The objective test is divided into four sections-Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation. The descriptive section carries questions from English Language (Letter Writing and Essay). The duration of the test is 3 hours 30 minutes. There is also a sectional time limit in the mains exam. The total marks allotted to the test are 225. The structure of the mains exam is given below.

IBPS PO selection process comprises prelims exam, mains exam, and interview. The marks obtained in the prelims exam are not counted for the final merit list. The final selection of candidates is done based on the mains exam and interview. 

The difficulty level of IBPS PO prelims exam was easy to moderate. The Quant section was moderate to difficult, Reasoning was easy to moderate and English section was easy. The Maths section was lengthy. Questions in Maths section was asked from Simplification, Missing Number, DI, Arithmetic, Pie Chart, Stats. The marks of IBPS PO prelims exam are not considered for the final merit list. For provisional allotment of candidates, only the marks obtained in Mains and interview are considered. IBPS PO scores are calculated out of 100 marks. The marks obtained in the prelims exam are taken into consideration to select candidates for the Mains exam. The prelims exam is qualifying in nature. It is just to screen candidates for the Mains exam. Candidates need to qualify the prelims exam inorder to get shortlisted for the Mains exam. IBPS PO Mains exam 2023 will be conducted on November 5, 2023 for the candidates who have qualify the prelims exam. The Mains exam carries questions from Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English Language, and Data Analysis & Interpretation. The Mains test paper carries descriptive-type questions too from English Language (Letter Writing and Essay). The duration of the test is 3 hours 30 minutes with sectional timings. The total marks allotted to the test are 225. The marks obtained in the Mains exam are counted for the final merit list. Candidates qualifying the mains exam are called for interview.

Both SBI PO and IBPS PO are the most sought-after banking exams in the country. The choice between the two depends on the candidate's personal preferences and career goals. IBPS PO is a national-level exam conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection to recruit candidates for the post of Probationary Officers in various public sector banks. On the other hand, SBI PO is a recruitment exam conducted by the State Bank of India to recruit Probationary Officers in its various branches across the country. While both exams have similar job profiles, SBI PO offers higher pay and better perks compared to IBPS PO. However, the selection process for SBI PO is more rigorous and the competition is higher.

The educational qualification prescribed for the exam is Graduation. The final year candidates are not allowed to appear for the exam.

IBPS PO age limit is between 20 and 30 years. Relaxation in the upper age limit is given to candidates belonging to reserved categories.

The provisional allotment is subject to the candidate fulfilling the criteria for Participating Banks and identity verification to the satisfaction of the allotted bank. This does not constitute an offer of employment. In case it is detected at any stage of the recruitment process that, the candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria his/her candidature/ chance in the process shall stand cancelled. IBPS PO final allotment is done based on the performance in the Mains exam and interview. As the provisional allotment will be made to participating banks on merit cum preference basis, once the provisional allotment is made, no request for change shall be entertained. Any request for change shall result in cancellation of candidature.

A reserve list to the extent of approximately 10 percent of the vacancies under each category may be kept, subject to the availability of candidates. This does not guarantee provisional allotment to/recruitment by the participating banks. In the event of Participating Banks providing further vacancies during April 2024-March 2025 at different intervals, provisional allotment may be carried out three to four times for the candidates in the reserve list, based on the vacancies provided by some or any of the participating banks at different intervals during the period. However, if no vacancy is furnished by the Participating Banks owing to exigencies or otherwise during the validity period, the candidates under the reserve list will not be considered for provisional allotment. The reserve list will expire automatically on March 31, 2025. Candidates who are not provisionally allotted or not in the reserve list will not be considered for further process.

Issuance of offer of appointment including terms and conditions, formalities for verification, joining etc. Is solely the decision of the participating banks and shall be final and binding. IBPS shall have no role therein. Any queries in this regard shall be directed to the participating banks only. The final selection of candidates is done based on the Mains exam and interview. The marks are normalised out of 100 to announce the final result of IBPS PO. The provisional allotment of candidates is done based on merit-cum-preference of candidates. Candidates are allocated to the participating banks as per their marks and cut off.

In the event of two or more candidates having obtained the same score, merit order is decided as per date of birth (the candidate senior in age is placed before/ above the candidate junior in age), as per the prevailing practice. A candidate belonging to reserved category, selected on the basis of norms as applicable to General Category, will be treated at par with a General category candidate. Such own merit candidates belonging to reserved categories who are provisionally allotted under unreserved (General) category will not be adjusted against a reserved post. However, their original category as registered in the online registration will remain unchanged.

IBPS PO scorecard is released few days after the declaration of the result. The following details are mentioned on the scorecard:

The marking scheme of IBPS PO is given below:

• For the correct answer, candidates score one mark
• For incorrect answer, 0.25 marks are deducted
• The total marks are calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers

• Enter registration number or roll number and date of birth or password
• The scorecard appears on the screen
• Download the scorecard and take its printout

The password is shared on the mobile number and registered email id. Candidates should check for the same on their email ID and mobile number. Candidates can also change the password by clicking on the Forgot Password tab. The steps to change the password are given below:

IBPS PO scores are calculated based on the marking scheme prescribed by the examination authority. For correct answers, candidates score one mark whereas 0.25 marks are deducted for wrong answers. Candidates need to secure the desired score inorder to qualify the exam. The scores of candidates are calculated based on the following method: The corrected scores obtained by each candidate in different sessions of the exam are normalised using the equi-percentile method. The normalised marks are used to announce the result Scores upto two decimal points are taken for the purpose of calculations The corrected scores are calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers.
