REET 2021 Paper Leak Case: Rajasthan Govt sacks RBSE Chairman; see details here
REET 2021 question paper was leaked before the conduct of the exam, as per the police investigation. Post the revelations, Rajasthan Government sacked the Chairman and top officials of the RBSE and announced to introduce a strict law against cheating and paper leak.
Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan Government on January 29, 2022, sacked the top officials of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) including Chairman DP Jaroli and Secretaries Arvind Kumar Sengwa, Dr Subhash Yadav and Dr BS Bairwa in connection with the alleged REET 2021 paper leak case. As reported by several media channels, the development came after the state police probe revealed that the question paper of the REET 2021 exam was leaked a few hours before the conduct of the exam.
Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teacher (REET) 2021 was held on September 26, 2021, in various exam centres across the state. The REET result 2021 has already been announced and the certificate distribution process is underway. The RBSE seeks to fill around 32,000 vacancies of Grade 3 teachers on the basis of the REET 2021 result.
It may be noted here that the REET or RTET exam was previously held in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017. The exam was conducted in 2021 after a long gap of four years.
What is the REET 2021 paper leak case?
The REET 2021 exam got embroiled in controversy following the allegations of cheating and irregularities during the exam.
On the day of the REET exam, that is, September 26, the Rajasthan Government had suspended internet services in various locations of the state to prevent irregularities during the exam.
However, right after the exam, several allegations surfaced related to the irregularities during the exam, as per various media reports. The Rajasthan police had recovered Bluetooth devices in the slippers of some candidates. Several cases of REET paper leak surfaced just a few hours before the start of the exam.
As per the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Rajasthan Police, the REET question paper was stolen and leaked from ‘Shiksha Sankul’, the campus in Jaipur housing offices of some education departments and educational institutions.
Action taken by Rajasthan Govt against REET paper leak
Rajasthan Government sacked several top officials of the state school board soon after the police investigation. Moreover, the Government announced to introduce a ‘strict law’ against irregularities such as paper leak and cheating in the recruitment exams in the upcoming budget session.
Currently, the state has ‘The Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfairmeans) Act, 1992’ for offences made during the exams. The new law is likely to intensify the existing law.
