UPPSC increased the number of candidates passing each stage of UPPCS Exam
UPPSC increased the number of candidates passing at each stage of the UPPCS and other exams.
UPPSC released a notice regarding the number of candidates to be taken for the successive stage of the exam. Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) mentioned that all the exams having the prelims, main and interview stage will have the following number of candidates selected in the successive stage.
- In the Prelims exam – 15 times of the vacancies
- In the Main Exam – 3 times of the number of vacancies
These numbers will be applied to the upcoming UPPCS 2021 Exam, Assistant Conservator of Forest/Regional Forest Officer Exam. Earlier in the UPPSC UPPCS exam, the number of candidates taken in the Prelims exam was 13 times the number of vacancies. In the main exam, the number of candidates selected is two times the number of vacancies. This decision will not be applicable to the UP Judicial Service Exam.
The recent decision will increase the competition in the main exam and the interview phase. It is very beneficial for the candidates who did not make it to the main exam because of the paucity of one or two marks. It will increase the number of candidates appearing in the main exam and the interview phase. This decision will also provide the opportunity for the commission to select candidates from a larger pool of candidates.

This decision is a deviation from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) selection procedure because the number of candidates selected by UPSC in the prelims exam will be 12 times the number of vacancies in the prelims exam and the number of candidates passed in the main exam is 2.5 times the number of vacancies.
UPPSC UPPCS 2021 Prelims exam will be conducted on October 24. The UPPSC UPPCS 2021 exam notification was released on February 5 and the number of vacancies notified was 400.
