UPSC vacancies for IPS increased from 150 to 200: Union Minister informed Lok Sabha
IPS vacancies in the UPSC 2020 exam increased to 200. Honourable Minister Jitendra Singh said that starting from 2020, there will 200 vacancies of IPS in the Civil Services Exam. Read further for details.
The Minister of State for Personnel Ministry informed the Lok Sabha today that the number of vacancies for the Indian Police Service (IPS) was increased from 150 to 200 in the ongoing Civil Service 2020 Exam. UPSC will now recruit 200 instead of 150 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in the Civil Service Exam 2020.
During the Lok Sabha proceedings, Jitendra Singh mentioned that the number of vacancies of IPS will be increased to 200 in the UPSC recruitment through the Civil Service Exam (CSE) from 2020. The minister said that, since 2012, UPSC recruits 180 IAS officers every year based on the recommendations of the Baswan Committee and with the approval of the competent authority. He also said that, since CSE 2009, 150 IPS officers were recruited every year, but now this number is increased to 200 from CSE 2020.
The Union Minister also stated that “there was a vacancy of 1,510 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in the country against their authorised strength of 6,715, as on January 1, 2020. There were 908 vacancies of IPS officer against their authorised strength of 4,982”.
