School, college reopening rules vary from one State/UT to the other depending upon the COVID-19 condition in their region.

Schools, Colleges Reopening 2022: Centre has released revised schools, colleges reopening guidelines. Among various major changes, Centre has given States and UTs the power to decide if parents' consent is required for allowing students to come for offline classes to educational institutions. Focusing on a smooth transition, Centre's schools, college reopening guidelines also consider the sudden transition from online to offline lectures. The States, UTs have been asked to encourage educational institutions to prepare bridge courses in order to help students adjust to this constantly changing environment avoiding academic loss.

School, college reopening rules vary from one State/UT to the other depending upon the COVID-19 condition in their region. As the Centre has asked States and UTs to decide whether parents’ consent is necessary or not, it is likely for many of them would do away with the parents' consent rule. 

The government has also asked institutions to identify students facing difficulties while transitioning to offline lectures. For this, Centre has advised states and UTs to prepare ways of additional intervention to help these students. 

According to Economic Survey 2022, Government schools witnessed a lot of dropouts. To ensure minimum learning loss, Centre has also asked States and UTs to take measures to prevent any more school, college drop-outs. 

Earlier, the government revised schools, college reopening guidelines in December 2021. However, with increasing COVID-19 cases and immerging Omicron variant of novel coronavirus, the implementation of guidelines got delayed. However, now, with decreasing number of COVID-19 cases, it is likely that the revised guidelines would be implemented soon.
