Schools, colleges to be closed until July 16 in parts of Maharashtra due to rain alert

Earlier, the administration, in view of a red alert (which warns of extremely heavy rain), had ordered the closure of schools and colleges from July 10 to 13. District Collector Sanjay Meena on Wednesday extended the order until July 16.

Maharashtra Schools, Colleges closure: All schools, colleges and other establishments except government offices performing essential functions will remain closed until July 16 in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district due to a heavy rain alert, officials said on Wednesday.

Earlier, the administration, in view of a red alert (which warns of extremely heavy rain), had ordered the closure of schools and colleges from July 10 to 13. District Collector Sanjay Meena on Wednesday extended the order until July 16.

Telangana Schools, Colleges Closed

Rains have disrupted the functioning of schools, colleges in Telangana as well. The government of Telangana has decided to extend holidays for all government, aided and private educational institutions until July 16 in view of the incessant heavy rainfall across the state. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao took a decision to this effect. Earlier, the state government had declared a holiday for all educational institutions from July 11 to July 13 in view of heavy rains in the state.

According to the official order issued by the Telangana government, the educational institutions in the state will be reopened from July 18.

"In view of continuing heavy rains, the Government has decided to extend holidays for all educational institutions (government, aided and private) from 14.7.2022 to 16.7.2022 in the State. Educational Institutions shall re-open from 18.07.2022," according to the official order.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has predicted heavy to very heavy rains for the next three days across the state. According to the IMD forecast, the isolated places in Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Mahabubabad districts will receive heavy rainfall.
