Bangalore University has deployed a software recommended by the University Grants Commission (UGC) named DrillBit software to detect plagiarism in PhD thesis. The software will be deployed in November.
As per the Deccan Herald report, the demand for PhD degrees in science subjects is highest but the university also finds widespread interest in PhDs in management subjects. Bangalore University had deployed the anti-plagiarism software in 2015, but has switched to DrillBit for greater accuracy.
UGC in alliance with the university's Baba Saheb Dr BR Ambedkar Central Library held a regional training on the software for its faculty. Over 90 librarians, PhD guides and other faculty from universities across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh participated in the training.
BU follows UGC regulation (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions) passed in 2018, said BR Radhakrishna, librarian and coordinator for the programme.
DrillBit - Plagiarism Detection Software has been evaluated by the esteemed AICTE technical expert committee and has been selected for empanelment with AICTE NEAT 3.0.
Banglaore University announces schedule of fourth semester B.P.Ed. Degree Examination
As per the schedule, the exam of Measurement and Evaluation in Physical Education will be held on December 12, 2023, Kinesiology and Biomechanics to be held on December 13, Research and Statistics in Physical Education on December 14, Officiating and Coaching, and Education Management on December 15, 2023.
