The Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) has invited applications from PhD Mathematics candidates who have qualified for NBHM PhD scholarship. Candidates can send their details to CMI before July 31. They have to mention details of their qualification in the National Board for Higher Mathematics PhD Scholarship in the email. The application process of CMI admissions 2020 has been closed on May 20. The official notification on the website is as under:
To apply for CMI PhD Mathematics, candidates should have:
- Applied for PhD Mathematics admissions at CMI before the last date
- Call letter for NBHM PhD Scholarship Interview
- Proof of communication from NBHM regarding the awarding of the scholarship

CMI PhD Scholarships Details:
The institute has shared that candidates pursuing PhD courses at CMI will be eligible for scholarships as under:
"Research Scholars get a stipend of Rs 31000 per month for the first two years and Rs 35000 per month for the next three years, along with an annual book grant of Rs 10000. Scholars who do not stay in the hostel are eligible for a house rent allowance of 24% of stipend per month. The scholarship amounts are revised periodically, and are on par with the premier research institutes in India."
CMI also offers scholarships for the following courses:

The scholarship at CMI on the basis of NBHM qualification is available only for PhD Mathematics. The admission process of CMI for BSc and MSc courses will be done on the basis of qualification in the written exam and, the fulfilment of eligibility criteria. Currently, the CMI entrance exam 2020 has been postponed until September 15 due to COVID-19 pandemic. The exam authority will be allowing the applicants to update their exam centre choices according to their current location post-COVID-19 lockdown. The details regarding the same will be shared by the last week of August 2020.
