DST Secretary Abhay Karandikar visits C-DAC Innovation Park in Pune

Proud of the work being done and excited to work with C-DAC and Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology Gov of India for next phase of National Supercomputing Mission, said Former IIT Kanpur Director Abhay Karandikar.

Abhay Karandikar, DST Secretary and Former IIT Kanpur Director, visited C-DAC Innovation Park in Pune, a hub of cutting-edge computational research and innovation.

"I was warmly welcomed by C-DAC colleagues many of whom I have known for years. Shri E Mugesh, Director General provided a comprehensive overview of the organization's milestones and vision," he tweeted.

Col. A.K.Nath (Retd.), Executive Director of C-DAC Pune provided an overview of C-DAC's work on Quantum Computing. Sanjay Wandhekar, Senior Director and Head of the HPC Technologies Group, shared progress and updates on the National Supercomputing Mission, an initiative of India DST & Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology Gov of India.

The highlight of the visit was touring the National PARAM Supercomputing Facility, which houses the AIRAWAT PSAI -ranking 75th among the TOP 500 Supercomputers. With a peak performance of 410 AI PetaFlops, the AIRAWAT PSAI exemplifies India's capabilities in high-performance computing. C-DAC has developed a very state of art Bioinformatics Resource Application Facility (BRAF) with an impressive visualisation facility. I was also impressed by a very state of the art very high speed interconnect platform for supercomputing machine designed and developed indigenously by C-DAC team. Proud of the work being done and excited to work with C-DAC and Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology Gov of India for next phase of National Supercomputing Mission, he said.
