India International Science Festival 2023
This year, India International Science Festival (IISF) is being organised by the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Department of Space, Department of Atomic Energy, Vijnana Bharti and Government of Haryana. Embracing the theme "Science and Technology Public Outreach in Amrit Kaal," this festival aims to magnify the public's engagement and understanding of these fields.
IISF 2023 will be held in the DBT Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) - Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB) campus, NCR Biotech Science Cluster, Faridabad from January 17 to 20, 2024. "During the festival period, students will build micro-satellites that will be carried at an altitude of 100-150 metres using para-motors to carry out weather observations," Arvind Ranade, Director of the National Innovation Foundation and chief coordinator of the IISF said.
Since 2015, the government has been supporting the IISF, which is co-organised by Vijnana Bharati, an organisation considered close to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Students and scientists from all over the country will participate in the festival.
IISF 2023 Curtain Raiser Event
Earlier, a curtain raiser event of IISF 2023 was held in Faridabad. Shri Moolchand Sharma, the Minister of Higher Education and Transport from the Government of Haryana, graced the curtain-raiser event as the chief guest. He said, this event is poised to be advantageous for numerous schoolchildren hailing from Faridabad and various other districts across Haryana.
Dr Jayanta Bhattacharya, Dean and Executive Director (Additional Charge), delivered the vote of thanks and shared a video of the work done by THSTI in developing the IISF 2023 venue. He thanked the secretaries of DBT and DST for their unwavering support and advice for the IISF 2023.
