Q:   What are the steps in OUAT counselling process?

A:

The OUAT (Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology) counseling process is an essential step for candidates who have successfully qualified in the entrance exam and are seeking admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by the university. The counseling process may vary slightly from year to year, but here are the general steps involved:

  1. Publication of Rank Card and Merit List:

    • After the entrance exam results are declared, OUAT will publish rank cards and merit lists on its official website.
    • Candidates can check their ranks and the date and time for their counseling session.
  2. Online Registration for Counseling:

    • Candidates must register online for the counseling process by visiting the official OUAT website.
    • During registration, candidates may need to provide personal and academic details.
    • They will also need to choose their preferred courses and colleges.
  3. Choice Filling and Locking:

    • Candidates will have the opportunity to fill in their choices of programs and colleges based on their ranks.
    • It's crucial to carefully select and prioritize the choices according to their preferences.
    • After making choices, candidates should lock their selections within the specified timeframe.
  4. Document Verification:

    • On the day of counseling, candidates must report to the designated counseling center with all the required documents in both original and photocopy formats.
    • Documents typically include mark sheets, certificates, rank card, admit card, category certificates (if applicable), and other relevant documents.
  5. Seat Allotment:

    • Based on the candidate's rank, choices, and availability of seats, the OUAT authorities will allocate seats for various programs.
    • The seat allotment result will be published online, and candidates can check their allotted seats and colleges.
  6. Payment of Admission Fees:

    • After seat allotment, candidates must pay the admission fees to confirm their seats.
    • The payment can usually be made through online modes or bank challan, as specified by the university.
  7. Reporting to Allotted College:

    • Candidates who have successfully paid the admission fees should report to the allotted college within the stipulated time frame.
    • They should carry the necessary documents, proof of fee payment, and the allotment letter.
  8. Final Admission Formalities:

    • At the allotted college, candidates will need to complete any remaining admission formalities, such as document verification by the college authorities.
    • Once all formalities are complete, candidates will officially be admitted to the program.
  9. Waiting List and Second Round of Counseling (if applicable):

    • In some cases, there may be a waiting list, and if seats remain vacant after the first round of counseling, a second round may be conducted.
