Two groups of students residing in separate hostels of Patna University clashed on the campus on Monday which created panic in the area.
As per the report of Hindustan Times, a student of the university was injured in this clash in which gunshots were fired and crude bombs were used, said police officials.
The police recovered a live bomb and a spent cartridge from there and detained four people.
“Police immediately reached the spot and brought the situation under control,” an official of the local police station said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra said, “Investigation is on. The accused fled as soon as police teams reached there. The police will soon nab all those involved in the incident. Adequate security personnel have been deployed on the campus.” The police are examining CCTV footage as part of the investigation, as reported by The Print.
Patna’s district minority welfare officer, Niranjan Kumar, who visited the spot, said miscreants attacked the hostel and fired several rounds. “We will submit a detailed report to the authorities,” he said.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has sought a detailed report on Monday’s incident at Patna University from its vice-chancellor KC Sinha and Patna’s senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajiv Mishra.
He ordered strict action against the guilty involved in the firing and bombing attack on the varsity campus.
