The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said it will be launching a structured online teachers training programs, to enhance the skills and improve the learning outcomes.

These courses will be imparted by the CBSE free of cost and no fee will be charged from the teachers. Once the teachers complete the course, an e-certificate will be issued to them, the Board informed in the official notification.
The classes will be of a one-hour long session and will have several sessions. Taking five sessions will be taken as the one day of training. The Board informed that around 1,200 online sessions are planned by the Centre of Excellence in May.
"The course is meant to enable teachers to teach better which will, in turn, lead to improved learning outcomes. It will help in instilling new knowledge and skills in teachers which will help them to remain at par with current trends and help them revise and refresh the knowledge," the Board said in the official notification.
"The pandemic has disrupted the whole academic system worldwide. Enhancing professional development digitally is a need in the times of coronavirus, where social distancing and remote interactions are the new normal,” the statement added.
Earlier, CBSE hosted pilot courses to train teachers from April third week. As per the Board, more than 500 free-online training sessions were conducted by 15 CBSE–Centre of Excellence. More than 35,000 teachers and principals from various parts of the country and abroad had participated in these programmes.
