Amid the outbreak of the novel coronavirus and following nationwide lockdown for 21 days, the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is doing everything to help its students learn from home. Earlier, the university designed an e-content portal to help students continue with their learning process despite suspended classroom lectures. Now, the University is training 16 college librarians to manage the study material and make it available for the students studying from home.
From Monday i.e. March 23 onwards, all the trained librarians started uploading the content and study material remotely on this portal. According to the official statement released by SPPU regarding this online study portal, the University appealed the faculty from affiliated colleges to share their material and help the student utilize the lockdown period at its best.
Last week, the SPPU suspended all of its departments and colleges due to the outbreak of the contagious virus COVID-19. Taking the health and safety of the staff members into consideration, the University asked its faculty to work from home. To support working and studying remotely, SPPU created an e-content portal. The e-portal is accessible on 'econtent.unipune.ac.in'. The website has study material of all types such as Videos, lectures, notes, assignments, and PowerPoint presentations.
On March 22, the University commenced the training of librarians. To help the librarians, the University appointed 19 coordinators to upload content from different subjects. This way, study material for all departments will be available making learning from home convenient. All the info such as names, email addresses, contact numbers and subjects of these coordinators is circulated among others to keep the flow of content hassle-free.
