Supreme Court to pronounce judgement on NEET PG special stray round today
The apex court had reserved its judgement for today on a plea seeking NEET PG special stray round to fill 1,456 vacant post-graduate medical seats.
Supreme Court will today pass the judgement on a plea seeking NEET PG special stray round to fill 1,456 post-graduate vacant medical seats.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) submitted an affidavit yesterday that stated that any further rounds to fill these vacant seats are not feasible as the software used for online counselling is closed now and also the refund of the security deposit of the candidates has been initiated.
Judgement likely to disappoint petitioners
Going by the court proceedings, it looks that there are fewer chances that NEET PG special stray will be conducted.
The bench of justices MR Shah and Aniruddha Bose said yesterday, “Can it be said that for a three-year course, admission can be granted after more than one year has elapsed? Doctors should be well trained. There cannot be any compromise with education as it can’t be that they are trained for less than three years considering the impact it has on the health of the people,” as reported by Hindustan Times.
“We are with you that no medical seats should remain vacant. But for many years, seats have remained vacant. There must be a limit to everything. It can’t be further extended as counselling cannot be a perpetual exercise,” the bench added.
The bench had said that it will pronounce a detailed verdict today following arguments by all the parties.
