The minister has expressed that the government would try to conduct the final semester exams falling in the month of June or July 2022, in offline mode after analyzing the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the state.

All state universities including engineering, arts and science and polytechnic in Tamil Nadu will conduct the December semester exams in online mode, the state government said. According to the state higher education minister K Ponmudy, Tamil Nadu universities will hold the semester exams online from February 1 to 20.

However, the minister has expressed that the authorities would try and conduct the final semester exams falling in the month of June or July 2022, in offline mode after analyzing the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the state.

The higher education minister informed, “In view of the COVID-19 situation, we have changed our decision to conduct offline exams for college students. To avoid any delay in graduating for final year students, the state universities will conduct semester exams in online mode from February 1 to 20, 2022.”

While conducting the online exams, the universities have received directions to make sure that students do not follow any malpractices. The minister also requested students not to indulge in any unfair practices.

Earlier, the government of Tamil Nadu postponed the university semester exams slated for this month-end indefinitely amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases. Before the decision to postpone all the exams was announced by the state government, the University of Madras had already postponed all semester exams scheduled to begin from January 21.

Meanwhile, schools in Tamil Nadu have been shut for classes up to Class 9 since January 5 to control the rising novel coronavirus cases in the state, CM MK Stalin said.
