A student from a government school in Madurai district's Ayyur village, Tamil Nadu has been sexually harassed by a commerce teacher. According to the reports, the teacher has been arrested by authorities for sexually harassing girl students in the school.
The teacher named Jayaraman, from RS Mathur village, was working as a commerce teacher at a government school. While the police have caught him for the time for his indecent acts, several female students from the school have stated that Jayaraman was speaking and acting inappropriately towards them.
Upon hearing the teacher’s inappropriate behavior towards female students, the parents of the female students raised a complaint against him. Subsequently, an inquiry was conducted by Child Protection Officer Selvaraj.
After investigating the matter closely, Selvaraj filed a complaint with Jayankondam All Women Police Station. The police station conducted an investigation and arrested Selvaraj under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. While the police have arrested Jayaraman against his crime towards female students, further investigations are underway, media reports suggest.
Meanwhile, the Thanjavur student suicide case has seen some development. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has decided to take over the Thanjavur student suicide case as the bureau has registered an FIR. According to AMI, “CBI registers FIR in Thanjavur student suicide case. The case pertains to the death of a 17-year old student of a Christian Missionary School in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur district who was allegedly being forced to convert to Christianity by her school.”
