Assam govt distributes 3.7 lakh bicycles to students of public schools

Recently in Sonitpur, we marked the distribution of 3.7 lakh bicycles to students of public schools, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

A few days ago, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced to distribute more than 3.69 lakhs bicycles to the students of government schools in the state. Now, the government fulfilled its promise and distributed as many as 3.7 lakh bicycles to the students.

"I am glad to share that as promised during my visit to the Sri Sri Kamalabari Satra Titabar in Jorhat district on October 12, cycles have been distributed to the young Bhakats here. The cycles will help ease their commuting in a carbon-neutral way," tweeted the CM.

"Adhering to Assam’s policy of equitable education, we are not only building schools, but also enabling teachers and students from remotest areas to access them. Recently in Sonitpur, we marked the distribution of 3.7 lakh bicycles to students of public schools," he said through another tweet.

Himanta Biswa Sarma added that for improving the academic environment, the state education department has decided to shut down some schools and amalgamate them with others. This amalgamation process is infusing more quality and accountability into the system, he added.

Assam CM to distribute No Due Certificates to 2.2 lakh micro finance borrowers

In Dibrugarh, he is going to distribute No Due Certificates to 2.2 lakh micro finance borrowers. The Government of Assam has provided financial benefits worth INR 300 cr to help clear their dues, as tweeted by the CM.
