Haryana schools to remain shut in 9 districts on Nov 2

Schools in nine districts in Haryana -- Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Panchkula, Panipat and Yamunanagar -- will remain shut on November 2 on account of zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections. 

In view of the zila parishad and panchayat samiti elections, schools in nine districts in Haryana -- Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Panchkula, Panipat and Yamunanagar -- will remain shut on November 2. 

The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DPR) Haryana tweeted, “In view of the elections to be held on October 30 and November 2 for the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members in Bhiwani, Jhajjar, Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Panchkula, Panipat and Yamunanagar, the state government offices and educational institutions in these districts etc. will be a public holiday.”  Besides schools, educational institutions, offices and factories will also be closed on November 2 so that employees working in these institutions can exercise their franchise.  

Public holiday in Adampur from November 3 to 6  

The state government has also declared public holiday in educational institutions, government, offices, corporations in Adampur constituency from November 3 to 6 due to byelection to be held there. As per a notification issued by Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal, “Teachers, employees who are voters of Adampur assembly constituency, will also be given paid leave under section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.”  The voting for zila parishad and panchayat samiti will be conducted on November 22, while the election results will be declared on November 27.
