The School Education Department has now allowed students to enrol for Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed) and Diploma in Education (D.Ed) courses in Teachers Training Institutes.

The Madhya Pradesh government has now allowed students to study Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed) and Diploma in Education (D.Ed) courses from Teachers Training Institutes. Applications form for admission to all courses will be submitted through the online portal soon.

Until last year, only teachers were being trained in these institutes. Since 2008, all the seats in these institutions were reserved for teachers of various cadres of govt schools in the state. Now, this rule has been scrapped to allow students to take admissions in all the courses conducted in the teacher training institutes. In an order by Dhanraju S, Director of State Education Center, it has been stated that a total of 180 seats have been allotted for departmental candidates while as many as 3,420 for non-departmental candidates for Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed.) course in district-level government education and training institutes.

Check out the official notice below:

The order also stated that a departmental candidate is a candidate who is not an outsider but is already working in the concerned department, rest are non-departmental candidates. In the Government Institute of Advanced Educational Studies, Bhopal and Jabalpur, as many as 182 seats have been allotted for students who want to pursue BEd course. A total of 510 B. Ed seats are available for students in Teacher Training Institutes in Rewa, Ujjain, Gwalior, Dewas, Khandwa, Chhatarpur and Jabalpur. Moreover, as many as 120 seats are available for students in the M. Ed course in Teacher Training Institutes in Khandwa, Chhatarpur, Rewa, Ujjain, Gwalior, and Jabalpur.

As many as 40 seats in Government Pre-Secondary Training Institute, Jabalpur, for Diploma in Pre-School Education course have been reserved for non-departmental women candidates.
