NCVET Notifies Guidelines for Training of Assessors in Vocational Education
NCVET notifies guidelines for long-term training, short-term training and national occupational standards and micro-credentials for holistic capacity building of assessors that eventually will provide better outcomes in the Vocational Education Training & Skill (VETS) ecosystem.
The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) released guidelines for the training and certification of assessors by awarding bodies. These guidelines will ensure holistic capacity building of assessors which eventually will provide better outcomes in the Vocational Education Training & Skill (VETS) ecosystem. The authorities have released qualifications pertaining to long-term training (LTT), short-term training (STT) and national occupational standards and micro-credentials.
The ToA guidelines are a formalized, dynamic and quality-assured framework which enables recruiters to get skilled employees. Further, this provides strengthening of the VETS ecosystem. Subsequently, the process allows to create of industry-aligned assessors through the promotion of aspirational and structured progression pathways.
"There is an increased focus on integration of vocational education in general education with the policy initiates like National Education Policy 2020 and National Credit Framework. Therefore, the requirement of skilled assessors to cater to general education requirements has also risen." The notification added.
Duration for Domain and Platform Skills
The duration for domain and platform skills varies for new accessors and existing accessors. The duration for a new accessor is a minimum of 7 days (i.e. 4 days domain skill + 3 days pedagogical skills + 1 day assessment). On the other hand, the duration for the existing accessor is a minimum of 5 days (i.e. 4 days domain skill + 1 day assessment).
"Training of Assessors (ToAs) is an important aspect to ensure that individuals have the required skillset to survive in the competent and emerging job roles." The notification further added.
