Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agriculture University gets new VC
The vice-chancellor, Arvind Kumar Shukla's, tenure will be of five years from the date of assuming charge of the office.
Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel has appointed Arvind Kumar Shukla as the Vice-Chancellor of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agriculture University, Gwalior. Shukla is currently posted as a project coordinator at the Indian Institute of Soil Science in Bhopal, he said. The vice-chancellor's tenure will be of five years from the date of assuming charge of the office, an official said.
Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agriculture University was established in 2008 by splitting the horticulture department and the veterinary science and animal husbandry departments of Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya.
The university offers BSc, MSc and PhD programmes in the streams of horticulture and agriculture. To secure admission in undergraduate courses at the university, the candidate needs to pass Class XII from a recognised board. For postgraduate programmes, the candidate needs a bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline from a recognised university. Admission to BSc course is done on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the entrance examination conducted by VYAPAM i.e MP Pre Agriculture Test (PAT). While admission to MSc and PhD programmes is done on the basis of scores obtained in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted by MP online limited, Bhopal. Besides PAT, candidates with valid Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) test score will be given preference at the time of admission to BSc course.
