As the schools in Telangana are set to reopen in a week’s time, schools have received directions from the chief minister to take special care to clean the premises of educational institutions including classrooms and toilets.

Telangana School College Reopening: The government of Telangana has decided to reopen schools, Anganwadi centres and other educational institutes from September 1. According to an official tweet posted by a renowned news agency, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said, “All schools, Anganwadi centres and other educational institutions to re-open from September 1: Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao.” According to the reports, the decision to reopen schools and other institutions has been taken as the closure of schools and colleges was causing ‘mental stress’, and it also has affected the future of students. The schools and colleges will reopen taking all the necessary precautions against the COVID-19 spread. Reports suggest that the chief minister has instructed to reopen all public, as well as private educational institutions following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), issued to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.

It’s been over one and a half years since the educational institutions are closed. The lockdown and school closure was imposed in March 2020 following the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. As the schools are set to reopen in a week’s time, schools have received directions from the chief minister to take special care to clean the premises of educational institutions including classrooms and toilets. Local reports say that the schools have been asked to clean everything with chemicals such as sodium chloride and bleaching powder. The local bodies have also been asked to ensure cleaning of water tanks, sanitisation of entire schools.

Meanwhile, field visits will be conducted by Zila Parishad chairpersons in their respective districts and inspections will be carried out to check whether the schools and other institutions are maintaining cleanliness.
