Telangana schools reopen post-summer break amid COVID-19 surge

Clarifying rumors regarding the postponement of the reopening of schools, state education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on June 12 said that there will be no extension of summer vacation amid the speculation of postponing the Telangana school reopening date due to rising COVID-19 cases.

Telangana School Reopening: Post-summer vacation, schools in Telangana have reopened from today, i.e. June 13. Clarifying rumors regarding the postponement of the reopening of schools, state education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on June 12 said that there will be no extension of summer vacation amid the speculation of postponing the Telangana school reopening date due to rising COVID-19 cases.

According to the ANI report, a parent said, “Schools reopen in Hyderabad from today. Studying online is a different thing but at school, kids get an interactive environment, which makes them happy and active. We are taking necessary COVID precautions."

In order to make necessary arrangements against COVID-19 spread amid the rising number of novel coronavirus cases, the Minister informed that she has released directions for the administrators of public and private schools.

English as the medium of instruction for Class 1 to 7

Telangana government has decided to introduce English as the medium of instruction for Classes 1 to 7 from this academic year. For this, 1.04 lakh government teachers have been trained in collaboration with Azim Premji University, the Indian Express reported. Meanwhile, the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education is expected to announce the TS intermediate results 2022 in the last week of June or the first week of July 2022. Telangana on Sunday recorded 129 new COVID-19 cases taking the total count in the state to 7,94,458, a health department bulletin said. The rising cases of the novel coronavirus have caused stress among parents due to school reopening.
