The ministry informed that all teaching and non-teaching staff in government schools and private unaided schools are also vaccinated in the union territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ladakh and Lakshadweep.
The Ministry of Education on Monday informed the Parliament that Tripura and Maharashtra are the only states who have vaccinated all of its teaching staff in government and private unaided schools with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. State governments across the country made vaccination of both teaching and non-teaching mandatory amid the school reopening process. According to the statement given by the Union Education Ministry, as of November 25, 2021, Maharashtra also managed to vaccinate 98.53 percent of non-teaching staff, whereas Tripura has vaccinated all of its non-teaching staff as well.
Meanwhile, the ministry informed that all teaching and non-teaching staff in government schools and private unaided schools are also vaccinated in the union territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ladakh and Lakshadweep. Fear of the new variant Omicron is rising among the public and parents are hesitant to send their wards to schools. However, details revealed that the education ministry are crucial with the spread of the new Omicron COVID-19 variant’s scare among the public.
Talking about the best states who have managed to vaccinate most of its teaching and non-teaching staff, the ministry informed that West Bengal has 99.67%, Himachal Pradesh has 99.54%, Tamil Nadu has 99.44%, Rajasthan has 99.40% and Bihar has 98.92% vaccination rate for teachers in both public and private sector. These states also managed to maintain high vaccination rates for non-teaching staff as well.
Meanwhile, Haryana has turned out to be the worst performer in terms of the vaccination rate of teachers and non-teaching staff. With only 78.94 percent teaching staff and 68.06 percent non-teaching staff vaccinated as of November 25, 2021, Haryana is last in the list. Following Haryana comes Manipur and Nagaland with 80.84% and 82.10% rate of vaccinated teachers respectively. Also, in terms of non-teaching staff, Manipur and Nagaland were only able to vaccinate 70.34 percent and 78.80 percent of non-teaching staff respectively.
