Tripura School Reopening: The State School Education Department, Tripura has decided to reopen schools for Classes 9 to 12 from tomorrow, i.e. August 25, 2021. According to the reports, the Tripura government also mentioned that schools will reopen adhering to proper COVID-19 protocols by the students and the educational institutes. The official notice released by the State School Education Department states that maintaining proper social distancing in schools will be a must. Double shifts have been recommended for schools to run classes in case of inadequate space. 50 percent of students will be allowed in each shift. Tripura government has already released a detailed SOP to prevent COVID-19 spread. Meanwhile, the government has also allowed the reopening of hostels and colleges in the state from August 25, 2021. College and hostels have been asked to resume classes by following the strict SOP released by Higher Education Director NC Sharma.

Following the decline in the novel coronavirus cases, the Department of Education took the decision to reopen schools in the region considering the academic loss. The decision to reopen Tripura schools has been taken after approval of the State Disaster Management Authority.

Further, according to the notification released, schools functioning in double shifts should make a roster for students. Each class should have 50 percent students in each class and the attendance of teachers should be 100%. Since schools have not resumed classes 1 to 5, teachers of those classes will be deployed for Classes 6 to 8 in order to implement the Notun Disha campaign, initiated by the state government in the schools. The initiative aims to improve the academic strength of students in elementary education. All Headmasters/ Headmistress of schools have received instructions to maintain COVID-19 protocols such as using sanitizer, maintaining social distancing, wearing masks and more. Inspections will be conducted by Deputy Education Officers to ensure that schools are following COVID-19 guidelines.
